About Malvern

Great Malvern is a town in Worcestershire, England. It is positioned at the foot of the stunning and world-famous Malvern Hills.

Great Malvern was developed around an 11th-century priory, the remains of which make up much of the current Great Malvern Priory, now a large parish church.
The town remained small until the 1800s, when the taking of water in Malvern came into fashion. By the middle of the 19th century, there were many hotels, bath houses, and other establishments catering to the visitor. The Malvern water became famous for containing "nothing at all".
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many private schools were established in Great Malvern; only two private secondary schools now remain.

The Malvern Hills give the town a steep incline. At the heart of the town is a statue of Sir Edward Elgar, who lived in and loved the town.

Among the many quaint local businesses and shops are there are also an ever increasing number of popular franchises such as Argos, Halfords, WH Smith, Woolworths and Cafe Nero to name but a few. But only the local traders can offer the true Malvern experience, selling everything from books to local arts and crafts.

Along the line from Worcester to Hereford is a Victorian railway station, whose waiting room has been converted to a traditional tearoom, so any vistors coming by train will have the instant delight of seeing the wonderfully preserved Victorian architecture form the moment they step foot in the town.

The well-known Malvern Winter Gardens is host to the Malvern Theatres and cinema complex, the theatre offers a wide range of plays, films, and concerts throughout the year.
