Assets - Great Malvern Cemetery

 

The most famous person buried in Great Malvern Cemetery is Jenny Lind the Swedish Nightingale. 

Born in 1820 she was brought up by her Grandmother who discovered her musical talents.

Jenny Lind attended the Royal Theatre School and later became a member of the Swedish Royal Academy

and appointed a singer to the Swedish King.

Jenny Lind came to live in Malvern in 1883 after her daughter had moved to the area. 

When she died in 1887 a procession of 27 carriages accompanied her coffin to Great Malvern Cemetery. 

Jenny Lind’s grave can be found in plot 3 grave number 1264. A sign post points the way.
