24th of November, 2018
Festive tunes, seasonal smells and Christmas cheer will fill the streets of Malvern as the town officially begins the countdown to the big day.
Great Malvern’s Christmas Festival returns for 2018 on Saturday 24 November, and promises a festive day out for all the family. An array of entertainment will be on offer at various locations around the town centre from 10am, leading up to the big switch on of the town’s Christmas lights at 6pm.
There will be a series of musical performances throughout the day including Malvern St James Choir, Malvern Rock Choir and Malvern Hills District Brass Band on the Belle Vue Island stage. Presenters from BBC Hereford and Worcester radio will also be there to join in the fun.
There will be a number of activities taking place around the town centre including a stilt walker, performance by the Appleyard Dancers and vintage car display. Fat Santa will also be wandering around meeting and greeting with a wave and a hearty ho ho ho!
But if it’s the real thing you're after, head over to Malvern Library on Graham Road where Father Christmas will be in his grotto taking present requests from all the good boys and girls. There will also be Victorian rides, face painting and music from Malvern Area Music String Orchestra and dance performances from local group Ameila's dance Academy.
More fun activities will be on offer for young ones in Great Malvern Priory Church while outside in the abbey grounds there will be the chance to sample some mouthwatering morsels and pick up a gift or two at the Artisan Food, Arts and craft market.
The highlight of the event comes as darkness falls and the traditional lantern parade takes place through the streets of the town centre leading to the switching on of the Christmas lights at 6pm.
This year the honour of flicking the switch goes to the stars of Malvern Theatre’s pantomime Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs
Do not miss out on this year's Christmas Festival 24 November, in Great Malvern.
