At its meeting on 27 September 2016, Malvern Hills District Council agreed to move the Tourist Information Centre from its present location at the top of Church Street to a new community building in Avenue Road as part of the District Council's new reception facility.
Figures to currently run the TIC are stated as £100,000 per annum and this decision made by MHDC is to bring significantly reduced operating costs, as well as on site parking for TIC visitors.
Malvern Town Council agreed at its meeting in December 2016 that it opposes the change in location for Malvern Tourist Information Centre as it believes the new location to be unsuitable and that it will result in a gradual decline in use and its eventual closure.
Tourism is important to Malvern and the TIC brings people into the very centre of town, but this has to be balanced with the fact that local government is under ever increasing financial pressures.
Now the Town Council want to know what you think, the residents of Great Malvern and the users of Malvern TIC. Should the TIC be moved to a new community building in Avenue Road or should it remain in its current location? Please tell us your views and why.
