DEC Ukrainian Appeal Total

28/07/2022 ; News

Back in April, we held the Mayor’s Peaks Challenge, two walks across the Malvern Hills, to raise funds for the DEC Ukrainian Appeal.  We are delighted to announce that £1,942 was raised and this will go towards helping all those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Seventy walkers and quite a few four-legged pals took part in the challenge, and we are pleased to say that everyone finished – eventually!  The weather was perfect for this type of walk, and it is no mean feat ascending and descending all seventeen peaks of the Malvern Hills or seven peaks for the shorter walk.  All walkers were given a t-shirt and medal for their efforts, and special rosettes were provided for the canine participants.

This event has proved popular as it is an opportunity to walk from end to end of the hills, with transport provided to the start, rather than having to complete a circular route back to a car park.  The event ended at the Mount Pleasant Hotel next to Rosebank Gardens, but look out for a new finishing venue next April; all will be revealed soon.  We do hope you will join us in 2023.

“I am so delighted that the Mayor’s Peaks Challenge raised such a fantastic amount for the Red Cross Ukraine DEC appeal.  The generosity of those who donated is very much appreciated by Malvern Town Council and myself but more importantly the people who have been displaced and will receive assistance as a result of our small but very significant contribution.  A big thank you to those who took part in the Peaks Challenge and asked friends and family to donate in their name.”
