Malvern Town Council Budget and Finances 2025/26

Malvern Town Council increased its Council Tax by 3.9% for 2025/26 which in monetary terms is an additional £2.94 on a Band D Council Tax charge.

When budgets are reviewed each year, the Town Council’s aim is to keep any increase as low as possible whilst needing to allow for inflationary and cost of living increases.  Officers and Councillors have sought to keep running costs as low as possible whilst continuing to provide the highest standard of service.

But what does your Malvern Town Council Tax pay for in 2025/26:

  • Maintenance and running costs for 11 play areas within the Town
  • Setting aside of funds for the future refurbishment of the Town Council’s largest play area at Victoria Park
  • Purchase of a new mower – all grass cutting, strimming and regular grounds maintenance is undertaken by a team of Town Council staff and not outsourced
  • Ongoing management and running of Great Malvern Cemetery, both land and buildings
  • A wide range of events throughout the year including the Christmas Lights Switch-on, Mayor’s Bonanza, Charity Events and 18 weeks of music every Sunday in Priory Park during the Summer
  • Summer and Spring bedding throughout the Town including hanging baskets and troughs to brighten up the town during the summer months
  • Running and maintenance of the new Community Hub at Victoria Park which includes a café, meeting room, public toilets, and the Town Council offices where members of the public can now drop in to talk to staff
  • A Grants and Donations budget of £41,000 including an annual grant of £18,000 to South Worcestershire Citizens Advice
  • Ongoing costs associated with gas lamps, litter bins, benches, clocks, allotments, green and open spaces and bus shelters to name just a selection
  • And not forgetting a new Skatepark scheduled for 2026
  • Running costs of leisure facilities for all ages including football pitches, sports pavilions, tennis courts, basketball courts, outdoor fitness equipment and a bike pump track
